A lovely hike to Hinohara Waterfall

We headed out on this spectacular fall day to hike to the beautiful Hinohara waterfall. It was so nice to be out of the city, and we really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings.hinohara waterfall

Almost every Japanese hiking trail will have a gift shop of some kind. They did have some very cool wood carvings in this one!

Also, restaurants.

Don’t forget the ice cream! They know what is important on a hike!

We made it to the first section of the falls.

And on to the larger fall. This one was awesome!

This is very typical Japanese hiking attire! But, to be fair, this was actually more like a nature walk than a hike.

So beautiful and refreshing!

I loved these posts along the trail. They were made of concrete.

Next, we traveled up the road a bit to another short hike called Kanotoiwa Rock. This was an awesome narrow canyon, cut away by the river. We climbed this steep ladder to get to the canyon.

There was a small ledge to walk on, with a chain to help you with balance.

A beautiful river rushed by, down below.

The girls thought this was quite an adventure!

More waterfalls.

Once you get through the canyon, there is a great open meadow, with little waterfalls and several small streams feeding into the large river. This is a really fun swimming spot in the summertime, but it was a little cool for that, fall is definitely on the way!

Making our way back to the car.

Another awesome adventure!

I can't believe I missed three posts! The rock ledge part would make me a little nervous, but would definitely add to the adventure flavor. I'm so bummed fall is here. I love summer.

Anytime a chain is involved I'm not!
