A few weeks ago, our town Fussa, along with the Fussa Dog restaurant set out to break a Guinness World Record in hot dogs. They needed to set up at least 250 meters of hot dogs, lined up end to end. There were many volunteers setting up hot dogs when we arrived. This seemed to be a painstaking process. Who knew?
This guy was some sort of local TV celebrity, and served as an MC of sorts. I don’t think he minded getting his picture taken!
One of the organizers just insisted we get in the picture with him. Haha!
The big wigs. I think one of them may have been the mayor (?), people kept bowing to the man on the far right.
Yes, yes, there is always a character! This must be the character for our town. Once again, a lady absolutely insisted that I be in the picture. Okay, okay…..
The Yokota Air Base taiko drummers were part of the days entertainment. They put on quite a show, and also entertained the kids!
This lady sang the most awesome American blues-y songs, complete with a harmonica. Totally unexpected! They were wonderful.
Hooray! They finally finished lining up all the hot dogs,
complete with ketchup and mustard, even.
Now all the meticulous checking, straightening and counting came into play. The same hot dogs must’ve straightened several times each!
It was time for the judge to check and verify everything.
Now for the big announcement, tension was high….
Hooray! Fussa now holds the Guinness World Record for the longest line of hot dogs! A total of 258 meters, and over 1,500 hot dogs! Not bad. (It took several minutes, and lots of coaxing for the golden ball to open with the confetti. Funny!)
The best part of the day? Eating the 1,500 hot dogs! They even had a quality homemade bun. I guess we are officially part of history….
So the record was having them all lined up? That's the funniest record ever. I kept thinking someone had to eat them in a row. –Wait. I guess longest toenails is sillier. Very cool!
I think this one has left me speechless! I'm glad the person made you get in the picture with character. You will be pleased someday.
